Homer O. Smith, 76, of Medford passed away on Thursday July 4, 2019. He was born July 28, 1942, to Homer Oscar Smith and Alma Oriana (Cline) Smith. Homer was an Army Veteran, actively serving 6 years during the Vietnam war. While serving, he met and married the love of his life, Carole Ann (Morgan) Smith on October 4, 1962. Out of this union, Homer and Carole Ann were blessed with 4 children: Gary Dean, Laura Sue, Roger Dale and Mecynda Sue. After serving in the Army, Homer returned home to Henryetta and went to work as a police officer for the City. He also worked for Pittsburg Glass for 10 years, OKC Refinery in Okmulgee for 12 ½ years and retired from Sinclair Oil Refinery -Tulsa in 1997. Homer loved being outdoors. He was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and friends and was known for telling great stories about all. He is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Carole Ann (Morgan) Smith, parents and 1 sister, Lana Hodge Hibbard. He is survived by 4 children: Gary & Heather Smith of Catoosa, OK., Laura & Micheal Thompson of Medford, OK., Roger & Melinda Smith of Collinville, OK., Mecynda & James Worley of Ringwood, OK., 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 sister Thelma Bossert Heuston of Okmulgee, OK., many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. What a great man the kingdom of God has gained. While we are sad today, we smile knowing he is healed and with his loved ones again. Graveside services will be held on July 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm West lawn Cemetery in Henryetta, OK.
